Yana’s work draws from experiences as a neurodivergent, nonbinary, queer person with the residue of a catholic background. Yana draws from their catholic upbringing and how the faith’s construct of gender and performative archetypes affected their own relationship with gender identity and selfhood, and reappropriates themes of god and sainthood through self referential, constructed archetypes.
